Scott Balfour
President and CEO, Emera Inc.

After nearly two decades in Canada’s finance and construction sectors, Scott joined Emera as Chief Financial Officer in 2012 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2016. He has been instrumental in Emera’s growth, including the acquisition of TECO Energy, a transaction that doubled the size of the Company.

For more than a decade, Emera has delivered on its strategy to lead the way in delivering clean, affordable and reliable energy to customers. The Company is well-positioned under Scott’s leadership to continue to grow and create value for customers, shareholders and communities into the future.

Scott began his career in commercial and corporate banking. He then joined Aecon Group, first as its CFO and then President, and played a lead role in growing the company into one of Canada’s largest publicly traded construction firms. During that time, the company grew from $60 million to $2.8 billion and became increasingly active across Canada and around the world.

Scott sits on the board of Martinrea International Inc. and is also a Director on the Boards of several of Emera’s operating companies. He is past-Chair of the Ontario Energy Association.
