This workshop is custom-built for small business owners trying to either establish or improve their payroll process.
With over 20+ years combined experience, Sarah Mullins and Katie Fetterly will discuss how & when to pay employees, CRA requirements, common mistakes made by employers, and how to streamline the process to free up your time! You'll also learn how to recognize the difference between an employee and independent contractor and identify potential CRA non-compliance issues.

Sarah Mullins, CPHR
After 20+ years managing employees, supporting leadership and executing various HR functions, Sarah left the corporate world to help and support small business owners.
She is the Founder and Principal Consultant at uptreeHR, an outsourced human resources department for small business.
Sarah and the team provide payroll, recruiting and policy development services, among others, to small business leaders throughout Nova Scotia.
When not volunteering in her community, you can find Sarah spending time in nature with her husband and two young boys - Ethan and Lucas.
Katie Fetterly, PCP
Katie Fetterly is a graduate of Saint Mary's University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate in Human Resources.She began her career in payroll by joining one of the world's largest payroll providers, ADP. In 2014, Katie was awarded the Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation from the Canadian Payroll Association.
Prior to joining her current uptreeHR team their Senior Payroll Specialist, Katie coordinated payroll and benefits for one of Halifax's largest legal firms, Cox and Palmer. Katie now supports clients through Nova Scotia and of various size with their payroll and benefit needs.
