Join us as Symplicity Designs offers their 1-day training on AI in the Workplace, covering best practices on how to leverage its use in each core area of your business (Marketing, Sales, Operations, HR, and Leadership).

This comprehensive training will provide current best practices and risk mitigation when employing artificial intelligence in a business setting, beginning with practical ground rules regarding AI’s use as a co-pilot.
 
The training is designed to include every level of eagerness and reluctance in the face of AI, with hands-on activities, and open Q&A periods at the end of each section.

 

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR

Matt Symes, CEO & Founding Partner
Symplicity Designs
Matt Symes is a family man, a serial entrepreneur, and an expert in strategic transformation in the public and private sectors. He has spent the last decade helping over 500 organizations solve their toughest problems.
 
As the CEO of Symplicity Designs and through his portfolio of nine companies, Matt has played a pivotal role in guiding and rebuilding organizations spanning the private and public sectors. Highlights of his career include seconding as COO for a CPG firm, where he contributed to increasing revenue from $20 million to $155 million and leading the transformation of the Francophone Education System to one of the fastest-improving systems globally. He has also turned a $42 million construction firm into a $180 million one and doubled the revenue of a global IT firm within two
years.

In addition to his executive roles, Matt sits on several boards and dedicates his time to strategic execution across his portfolio of companies and clients. His approach revolves around aligning on the future, making strategic choices, and creating an environment conducive to execution. Over the past three years, he has been involved in implementing this strategic cadence at the leadership level of three provincial health authorities in the Atlantic provinces.
 
Matt's professional recognitions include being named Business Leader of the Year by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce in 2020 and consecutively making Atlantic Business Magazine's Top 50 CEOs list in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
 
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick and Wilfrid Laurier University, Matt’s background in military history and his keen interest in leadership bring a unique perspective to his work. His commitment to social and environmental impact is evident in his intentional incorporation of social sector work into the Symplicity business model and having achieved and maintained B-Corp certification since day one.
 
Outside of work, Matt is an avid long-distance runner with a goal of completing marathons on all seven continents. He resides between Halifax, NS, and Moncton, NB, with his partner Emily, their two daughters, and his terminally ill father. As a proud Girl-Dad, Matt finds joy in his family while continuing to make a difference in the business world and beyond.
 

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

As per the guidelines for LSI funding, there is eligibility criteria for participants. **
A business is eligible to participate if it:

  • is located in Nova Scotia
  • is registered and active in the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies or incorporated by an Act of the Nova Scotia Legislature
  • has a direct workforce development need (like upskilling employees, adopting new technologies or addressing critical skills gaps within their industry)
  • operates within or support sectors that align with Nova Scotia's economic and workforce development priorities, contributing to industry growth and innovation
  • demonstrates financial and administrative capacity to successfully deliver the proposed initiative, including project coordination, participant tracking and reporting on outcomes
